About ESC

The ESC - European Students' Conference - ( Wikipedia ESC) is one of the largest biomedical conferences worldwide and has been one of the main events at the Charité for many years. Addressing young scientists, graduate students, post-graduate students, PhD students, post-docs, and everyone interested in biomedical research, the ESC represents an interdisciplinary platform for international scientific exchange between numerous countries, students, clinicians, and professors from different fields of research and various cultures

Founded in 1989 by students with the aim of creating a platform for young researchers from different fields, the ESC became an institution for exchange of ideas, and experiences. Over the past 20 years, the ESC established a way of bringing researchers and medical staff with different interests, but more importantly different countries together.

Reaching out to
all corners of the continent and the four corners of the world, the ESC is proud to welcome numerous presenting and not-presenting participants from over 60 countries, every year. Furthermore, the ESC hopes to encourage a more interdisciplinary approach to modern sciences, and to give their participants the opportunity to present their research to the scientific community and an interested audience.

The biomedical student conference is held annually in October at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Germany. In 2009, the ESC was given the chance to be part of a great opportunity and experience: The conference is the kickoff event for the Charité's 300th birthday and ESC participants contribute numerous talks and ideas to the World Health Summit held for the first time in Berlin. In addition to this, the ESC is going to celebrate the ESC's
20th anniversary in 2009.

The ESC is proud to be part and founding member of the first international network of students' conferences within Europe, the Network of European Medical Students' Conferences (NEMSC).
